- In 1919- Fritz Pollard becomes the first black to play Professional football for a major team, the Akron Indians. Pollard was also the first Black to play in the Rose Bowl
- In 2019- Chicago native Emmerson Buie Jr named as new FBI special-agent-in-charge of the Chicago FBI Division, becoming the first African American to hold the position
